The lifestyle of the Sami Tribe mainly is consistent of them being Reindeer herders, however some of the overall population, follow semi nomadic Reindeer herding. They tend to be very close to their reindeers. To them their reindeers are considered a way of life. Apart from animals they have an entirely different plethora of music and literature, for example: The Sami Tribe tend to perform a very distinct tone of singing known as yolking. It is intentionally used to recall events and people, or simply for leisure, describing nature and telling traditional stories. These traditions continue on onto this century.
For literature very few are actually writers and the very first Sami Author, 1910- Johan Turi, whose book overviewed in great detail the history and many descriptions of a Sami's daily life. Going on to the topic of linguistics or languages, the Sami have 10 languages, which are spoken all throughout Norway to Russia.
There are approximately 30,000 people in various regions abiding by this language currently as of a 2002 census, which is sort of like an official survey. It is a phenomenon that the Sami language actually has over 400 words for reindeer. One Sami word which we use nowadays is Tundra. Their religion however is animistic, meaning that they strongly believe that all things in nature from animals to minerals have a soul.
